Cold Brew Coffee
Medium Smooth chocolate, toffee and floral tones. Great for cold brew or nitro.
Cold brew coffee is a method of brewing coffee that involves steeping coarsely ground coffee beans in cold water for an extended period of time, typically 12 to 24 hours. This slow steeping process extracts the flavors from the coffee beans, resulting in a smooth, less acidic, and naturally sweeter coffee concentrate.
How to Make Cold Brew Coffee
Ingredients:
- Coarsely ground coffee beans (use a ratio of about 1 cup of coffee grounds to 4 cups of water)
- Cold water
Instructions:
- Coarsely grind your coffee beans. The coarser grind helps prevent over-extraction and bitterness in the cold brew.
- In a large container or pitcher, combine the coffee grounds with cold water. Stir to ensure all the grounds are wet.
- Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours. The longer you steep the coffee, the stronger and more flavorful it will become.
- After steeping, strain the coffee concentrate through a fine-mesh sieve, cheesecloth, or coffee filter to remove the grounds. You may need to strain it multiple times to remove all the sediment.
- Dilute the cold brew concentrate with water or milk to your desired strength. Cold brew concentrate is much stronger than traditional brewed coffee, so it's typically diluted with equal parts water or milk before serving.
- Serve the cold brew over ice and enjoy!
Cold brew coffee can be stored in the refrigerator for several days, making it a convenient option for enjoying iced coffee at home. It can also be customized with various flavors and additions, such as flavored syrups, spices, or cream.
